My abstract paintings are a way for me to let go of perfectionism and embrace creative freedom. I’m drawn to bold colors, high contrast, and rich textures, always experimenting with both traditional materials and unexpected ones—like cellophane, aluminum, old hardware, and cardboard. I enjoy transforming these rugged, often discarded items into something elegant, finding a balance between masculinity and femininity. Some works also incorporate crushed glass and Austrian crystals, adding a playful interaction with light. Each piece is an exploration, and I love not knowing exactly where it will lead.

"Draped in Gold" stands as my largest canvas creation to date. My inclination towards larger pieces, possibly influenced by my muralist background, or simply my desire to craft artworks that invite prolonged contemplation, led me to embark on this project.

As I began working on this piece, the direction was initially unclear.

Over the past year, I've felt a compelling urge to experiment with repurposing discarded items. In this artwork, I deliberately incorporated the cardboard and plastic that once enveloped the canvases, transforming what some might dismiss as "trash" into a visually spectacular and texturally captivating composition.

With "Draped in Gold," my intention was to elevate and assign value to materials deemed useless, showcasing how, with a touch of manipulation, seemingly mundane items can metamorphose into something artistically meaningful and beautiful.

I’ve been working on this painting for quite some time, and its appearance has changed more than once along the way.

One of my favorite quotes by Leonardo da Vinci has been on my mind:

‘Art is never finished, only abandoned.’

And that’s exactly what I’ve chosen to do.

As someone who has long struggled with perfectionism, it’s not easy to step away from something that doesn’t feel quite ‘there.’ But instead of chasing an impossible standard, I’m choosing to let go and embrace the beauty in its imperfect self. This painting may not be what I envisioned, but perhaps that’s what makes it special.
